March 2006 ~ Featuring Dr. Kent Hovind
This month, I would like to introduce everyone to another ministry that I feel is doing wonderful things for the Kingdom of God! I first came across the ministry of Dr. Kent Hovind as I was doing some Christmas shopping at the Christian bookstore in our local mall in Pensacola, Florida. They had a display full of dvds and material by Dr. Hovind. I was there with Josh Garner of the Florida Boys, and Josh said that he had attended a seminar by Dr. Hovind. Josh recommended that I watch one of the videos, so I made an impulse purchase and bought the first video of the seminar series. Little did I know that after seeing the first one, it would have a life changing effect on me.

In 1989, Dr. Hovind started a ministry called Creation Science Evangelism. Now, Dr. Hovind is one of the most requested speakers on the Creation and Evolution topic in churches, public and private schools, and universities all over the world. Dr. Hovind served as an educator for many years teaching Biology, Anatomy, Physical Science, Mathematics, Earth Science, and many other sciences. In 2001, he opened Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola, Florida. It has been a place where families can come to learn about God's Creation through science and the Bible. Dinosaur Adventure Land is comprised of a 3-story Science Center, Creation Museum, and Theme Park, making it fun for all ages, and one of the most amazing Creation Parks in the world.

He travels over 220 days every year, speaking over 900 times each year. He is originally from Peoria, Illinois, but his family now resides in Pensacola, FL. He has three children, Kent Andrew, Eric, and Marlissa, and they are all involved with his ministry. Dr. Hovind's family are members of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, where his wife Jo is the church pianist.

Simply put, in his seminars and on his dvds, Dr. Hovind gives scientific evidence to prove a literal six-day creation and he refutes evolution's proposition that the earth has evolved over billions of years. In his first seminar, he uncovers the follies of the Big Bang theory as well as exposing the religious beliefs of evolution. In the second seminar, he explains in detail how it was possible for man to live over 900 years (as the Bible clearly teaches). For many years, some thought the existence of dinosaurs discredited the Biblical account of creation, but in seminar three, Dr. Hovind traces the Biblical and historical references to dinosaurs and explains how it was possible for dinosaurs to thrive on the earth along with man. He shows how public school textbooks are permeated with fraudulent information in order to convince students that evolution is true. Seminar four, titled "Lies in the Textbooks", is a must-see for every public school student, teacher, parent, and school board member. On seminar five, Dr. Hovind reveals the terrible effects that evolutionary beliefs have had on societies throughout history. In the sixth seminar, he gives logical answers to the physical anomalies that geologists cannot explain with the evolutionary theory. By blending Scripture and scientific observation, the Hovind Theory is a fascinating explanation of the Flood, the Ice Age, and the formation of coal, mountain ranges, and the Grand Canyon. The last of his seminar videos, titled "Questions and Answers", covers such widely diversified subjects as fresh dinosaur bones, radiometric dating, and the speed of light. It deals with "primitive" man, race origins, and the true location of the Red Sea crossing. Many fascinating topics discussed are of particular interest to people today, such as the mark of the beast and apparent contradictions in the Bible.

Dr. Kent Hovind is a Christian, and he basically has a ministry of going into schools and universities and teaching that the Bible, God's Word, is 100% accurate and that God created this world. His goal is to win souls to Christ. You can believe that you came from a rock, or you can believe that a loving God created you for a purpose! Dr. Hovind has debated the Creation and Evolution controversy over 90 times all over the world, in many large universities, and on thousands of radio talk shows.

I urge everyone to watch a seminar by Dr. Hovind. As a Christian myself, you don't have to prove to me that God created me and the world, but it really strengthened my faith by answering some questions that I had. Just take a look at a science book from your local public school, and you will see that the children are being taught that this earth is billions of years old. How can this be if the Bible teaches that it is only a few thousand years old? You can add up the dates in the Bible, and it tells how the earth is only about 6,000 years old. Then about 4,400 years ago, there was a flood. Somebody is wrong, and Dr. Hovind enjoys showing the evolutionists that they are!
