Review of Christmas In Dixie

SOUTHERN GOSPEL NEWS REVIEW

Produced by:
Stewart Varnado & Scoot Shelnut
Some Dawning Music

This CD is one of the absolute best instrumental CDs I have every heard.

It has a great variety of songs ranging from the lighthearted secular "Let It Snow" and "Sleigh Ride" to the reverential "O Holy Night". The only vocal song on the CD is "New Star Shining" and it is performed with a very mellow sound. There is a medley of three sacred carols which includes "Silent Night", Away In A Manger", and "The First Noel". In addition there is a three song medley of secular fun songs including "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town", Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer", and "Frosty The Snowman". "Silver Bells", "Go Tell It On The Mountain" and "Feliz Navidad" are just plain fun sing-along songs.

The instrumentals are some of the cleanest that I have heard recorded. If you are looking for a very relaxing yet interesting Christmas CD, I fully recommend this one. The Band has outdone themselves on this one. By the way, the Band consists of Stewart Varnado on the Piano and Keyboards, Randy Shelnut on Guitars, and Randy "Scoot" Shelnut Jr., on Bass Guitar and Drums.
